The other day, as I was taking my morning walk, I noticed a tree that had a huge dead branch dangling several feet above the street below and it immediately connected me with an important concept in energy healing. Several thoughts went through my mind at once:
“Wow, that’s pretty amazing the way that branch is just hanging there, suspended, precarious, but at the same time not budging through countless storms that we’ve had lately.”
“Jeez, that looks kind of dangerous.”
But the thought that was most intriguing was:
“That dead branch, just hanging there with no apparent purpose, is a perfect illustration of something Olivia said to me just yesterday!”
Olivia came to see me for an energy healing. At the end of our session, she asked:
“Why do we hold on to things that no longer serve?”
This seemingly simple question actually touches on a sensitive and incredibly important topic.
Typically, the general goal of any energy healing session is to clear congestion in the biofield and fill that space with a higher vibrational energy. Any number of things can create congestion in the field, from environmental toxins and inflammation in the physical body to trauma, emotional distress, and outdated beliefs.
As we release the things that no longer serve, we can bring in something new. But sometimes, just like that old worn-out sweater that is so hard to part with, the releasing isn’t so easy.
Posing this question was a profound moment for both Olivia and me because it illustrated that energy healing can take us to a deeper level when we start to ask introspective questions, and it was a wonderful reminder of the learning opportunities that come my way every day. My clients are amazing teachers!
But rather than tell you more about my session with Olivia, I first want to ask you to ponder Olivia’s question:
“Why DO we hold on to things that no longer serve?”
Think about how that question applies to you. Then, let me know by scrolling down to the bottom of this article and leaving a comment or by contacting me.
Over the next few weeks we will look in more detail at the situation that brought Olivia to seek an energy healing, what transpired during the session, and the insights that came to us as we discussed possible answers to her question. I’d love to have you be part of the conversation!
