In This Season of Homecoming, Come Home to Your Heart

Last month my blogs followed the journey of my client Anne and her struggle with Lyme disease. Anne was able to reach a level of healing that allowed her to pursue her dream of spending a year in Ireland.

She writes, “This country is gorgeous, and I feel that I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be. The bus ride to my host family winded through mountains and dazzling waterscapes, but it didn’t feel new. The places already seemed laid out as a part of me. Crazy.”

I replied, “Beautiful! Sometimes people will say that their experience with Healing Touch is like ‘coming home.’ It sounds like your healing and your familiarity with Ireland is also a homecoming of sorts. I love it!”

What struck me in this exchange was the way Anne felt her experience was already a part of her. When I think of that sense of coming home, I think of the heart chakra. The heart is where all transformation begins. It’s the place we consider our home, where our true essence resides.

The heart chakra also connects the lower three chakras with the upper three chakras. It lies in the center of it all and acts as a bridge between our physical and spiritual selves. It is this powerful “energetic engine” that provides the balance we need to connect with all aspects of ourselves, to feel, like Anne, that we are exactly where we’re supposed to be.

The Equinox is a perfect time to bring your awareness to this internal balance. As nature strikes a balance between day and night, we release summer and welcome fall, moving from a time of activity to a new, slower season. It’s a time to simplify, “shed the leaves,” and clear what is no longer useful. In this way, we reveal what’s hidden underneath, the essence of who we are.

Take a few minutes today to sit in the stillness of your heart and enjoy your own homecoming!
