5 Ways Healing Touch Gives You a New Lens on Healing

In recent weeks I have been writing a series of articles about my client, Anne, and her healing journey. Anne is healing from Lyme disease and trauma, but our work together beautifully illustrates how Healing Touch facilitates healing in any situation.

Though Anne came to me frustrated and ready to give up, she was also determined to heal and ready to become actively involved in her healing process. Soon she was feeling more empowered, more at peace, more hopeful, and—most importantly—she was able to see past the illness where before she never could.

As our work together continued, she connected deeply with many underlying emotions, from deep sadness and blaming herself for not recognizing the source of her illness to navigating the challenges of a healing crisis and pondering the worst possible scenario: what if I never get better?

She developed a deeper compassion for herself and, because her illness forced her to basically put her life on hold, she came to see that chronic illness can have valuable lessons to offer. She is now more clear than ever about her aspirations for the future.

Here are 5 ways Healing Touch can help you experience the same benefits that Anne experienced, regardless of your diagnosis.

  1. Empower yourself. Healing Touch is a partnership between you and your practitioner in which your intentions for healing are of primary importance. I always tell my clients: You drive the bus. I’m just here to help navigate.
  2. Connect with your emotions. Healing Touch is a holistic approach. Often, physical symptoms bring clients in, but very quickly we explore the totality of who you are: body, mind, and spirit.
  3. Forgive yourself. When you let go of self-limiting thoughts and emotions there is a tremendous amount of energy that becomes available to support the healing process.
  4. Open up to new possibilities. Healing Touch helps you see options that aren’t consciously available when you are mired in the challenges of dis-ease.
  5. Envision a future that is aligned with your life purpose. Hope and healing lead to greater clarity about who you are and why you are here.

Anne is now in a position to begin pursuing her future dream of starting a non-profit company focusing on the confluence of her interest in environmental advocacy and art. As she was preparing to embark on her year abroad she told me, “I now have a sense of ownership over the healing that is happening, and at the same time I’m surrendering to the healing process.”

This wonderful new perspective on healing is available to you as well. Are you ready to make the shift?
