The Power of Healing Touch: Viewing Illness Through A New Lens

During our initial appointment, my client Anne, an active woman in her 20s, shared with me a challenging health history. She contracted Lyme Disease five years ago and went through a long period of feeling drained and helpless and not knowing why. More recently, she traveled to South America, where she got parasites adding to an already compromised health situation.

Both conditions are mysterious and frustrating. In fact, both are addressed in Dr. David Edelberg’s series Six Commonly Missed Diagnoses.

Dealing with two of them back to back is enough to make anyone want to give up.

But from the moment we met, I could see that Anne is determined to heal. She has taken the summer off in order to focus on her health. She’s remaining optimistic by moving forward with plans to spend the next year overseas and using energy healing as a way to reframe her illness.

After our second session, Anne said, “Mentally, this has led to a huge shift. I now have a sense of ownership over the healing that is happening, and at the same time I’m surrendering to the healing process.”

Anne made the observation that, when she simply took the pills and herbs that were prescribed, the healing she experienced felt outside of, or separate from her. She says that Healing Touch is helping her feel more actively involved.

Feeling more empowered, more at peace, and more hopeful are a few profound results Anne has already experienced. She continues to have bouts of anxiety and fear, fueled  by the trauma of being so sick. But, she also feels more accepting about her healing timeline, even if it means her “recovery” continues into the fall, when she’s in Europe.

“I’m more able to see past the illness, where before I never could,” she says.

I’ll continue to share Anne’s progress this month as she uses Healing Touch to access her own innate healing abilities. Stay tuned as we look at illness through a new perspective!
