The Energetics of Creativity

Did you take my quiz in last week’s newsletter?

I asked: How Well Do You Know Your Creative Energy?

  1. When you experience a burst of creativity, where do you feel it in your body?
  2. When you experience a block in your creativity, where do you feel that in your body?
  3. What color do you associate with creativity?
  4. Do certain foods help energize your creativity? What are they?
  5. Which element (fire, earth, water, air) do you associate with creativity?

These aren’t trick questions, but in fact there are not a single correct answers! Notice that I used the word “your.” Every chakra plays a part in the creative process, and the way you gather and metabolize creative energy in your subtle body can be as personal to you as your physical features.

Here’s how the chakras work together: Inspiration comes in, you vision it, you express it, you put your heart into it, you put your thoughts and will toward it, you give birth to your idea, and finally it takes physical form. Clearing and balancing the chakras enhances the creative process.

Chakra 7: The Crown: Inspiration

The color you may associate with creativity is: violet.

The foods that can help energize your creativity are: blackberries, beet tops, and purple broccoli.

The element associated with this chakra is: thought.

The crown chakra holds the energy of unity, divine wisdom, and enlightenment. If this is your primary creative center, you may feel it’s your purpose here on earth to inspire others to higher planes of consciousness through your work. You likely view creativity as akin to spirituality and approach it in an almost reverent way.

Chakra 6: The Brow: Vision

The color you may associate with creativity is: indigo.

The foods that can help energize your creativity are: eggplant and grapes.

The element associated with this chakra is: light.

The sixth chakra is often called the third eye, and is the seat of inner vision, intuition, and idealism. If you have a strong imagination and are able to easily “see” what you want to create, this may be your primary creative center. You will likely be motivated by the sense of accomplishment you feel when you are able to create something tangible that matches your vision.

Chakra 5: The Throat: Expression

The color you may associate with creativity is: blue.

The foods that can help energize your creativity are: blueberries, plums, and potatoes.

The element associated with this chakra is: ether.

The fifth chakra is the center of self-expression and communication. Whether you express yourself through art, writing, or some other creative outlet, this chakra is where you find the courage and motivation to share. If the throat chakra rules your creativity, you likely enjoy the sense of freedom you get when you call forth the best in you and in others.

Chakra 4: The Heart: Passion

The color you may associate with creativity is: green.

The foods that can help energize your creativity are: avocado, broccoli, and spinach.

The element associated with this chakra is: air.

The heart is the center of unconditional love, compassion, and transformation. If you chose this chakra, your impulse to create may come from a strong desire to touch hearts. You value healing and being loving. The idea of connecting with others on a heart level is what motivates you to express yourself.

Chakra 3: The Solar Plexus: Will Power

The color you may associate with creativity is: yellow.

The foods that can help energize your creativity are: bananas, corn, and pineapples.

The element associated with this chakra is: fire.

The solar plexus governs our sense of confidence, power, and self esteem. If this is your creative center, you may be motivated to create order from chaos, or to organize information in a way that’s pleasing. You are active and enjoy putting some fire into your endeavors.

Chakra 2: The Sacral: Birthing

The color you may associate with creativity is: orange.

The foods that can help energize your creativity are: apricots, carrots, and mangoes.

The element associated with this chakra is: water.

The second chakra is thought of as the center of emotion and relationships. If this is your creative center, you may feel an indescribable joy and passion when you’re being creative or thinking outside the box. It is a fluid energy that allows you to give birth to your creations.

Chakra 1: The Root: Manifestation

The color you may associate with creativity is red.

The foods that can help energize your creativity are: beets, cherries, and strawberries.

The element associated with this chakra is: earth.

Our root chakra grounds us and give us a sense of security. It’s also associated with material wealth. If this is your creative center, you may feel the need to create as an almost physical sensation. You may also aspire to make money through your creativity and find that having a tangible outcome is motivating to you.

Next time you’re taking on a project or facing a challenge, you can nourish your creativity physically by “eating a rainbow” and energetically by practicing Healing Touch methods such as the Self Chakra Connection. Notice how great it feels when an inspiration becomes physical reality!
